BTS students camp out all night to raise money for Katharine House Hospice
Earlier this month, a group of BTS students (and staff!) camped out all night to raise funds for Katharine House Hospice, as part of their school Accumulator Challenge project. The fundraiser managed to pull in over £400, with more donations still coming!
The sleep-out was held at Bicester Technology Studio, with only tents and campfires available to them, giving a real experience and insight into the difficulties homeless people have to face every day.
The students were fantastic on the night and took it as an adventure. Despite not having much sleep, spirits were still high at 8am the next morning. The journey ended with a cup of hot chocolate to warm them up.
BTS have been running fundraisers for Katharine House Hospice since opening and last year, students raised a whopping £1,200 thanks to fundraising activities, such as the ‘collect by car’ service project, and selling the handmade Christmas hampers.
Steph McNeil, Assistant Principal and Director of Business Engagement, who camped out with the students, said: “We are very proud of them all, and we want to thank Mrs Wall for staying, we could not have run it without the extra member of staff”.
