Ten students take a visit to impressive, Elephant Park

The hard hat project, in partnership with global construction company, Lendlease kicked off in October 2017 and see’s groups from Year 10, 11 and 12 looking to bring construction into the 21st century.

As part of this Lendlease Hard Hat Project, the chosen ten team members got the chance to tour Elephant Park, London.

The Lendlease development of Elephant Park is a £2 billion regeneration programme on 28 acres of land in the centre of Elephant & Castle. It is situated in London’s Zone 1 and with a vision to create Central London’s new green heart.

The student’s trip involved a tour around the state-of-the-art show homes and the virtual reality room which showed off the potential development of Elephant Park. This provided them with an insight into the health and safety requirements of a construction site.

The day culminated in a workshop to further explore and develop their ideas already presented for the smart hat project.

Year 12 student, Tilly Rae said: “Lend Lease provided a very helpful overview of all the professions that come together on such a large scale project like that of Elephant Park. It was a one-off experience that has opened our eyes to the construction industry. We definitely have our work cut out for us on this hard hat project.”
